  • There are a large number of conifers that have grown over their owner’s property boundary onto my client’s land. My client needs to replace the roofs of 8 garages on their land, which are at the boundary of the property which owns the conifers. We cannot undertake the roof replacement without cutting back the conifers that are growing over the garage roofs. For those conifers that have grown over the garages (we would not touch those that are not over the garages), we propose to cut them back to the boundary from the garage roofs to a height of around 6/7 feet. Also, one of the conifers appears to be growing into the garages or have partly fallen into the garages; it may be necessary to fell and remove this individual tree.   • Replacement of non-turf cricket practice nets The proposal relates to the erection of a three-lane, fully enclosed, cricket net measuring 33m in length (with one lane reduced to 30m length, to suit the natural playing surface boundary) and 10.95m in width. The nets will stand 4m in height and will be constructed using porous matting on a granular aggregate base, surrounded a PE 50mm mesh netting, supported by galvanised steel poles set into ground sleeves. A pedestrian access gate is proposed to the end of the nets. The nets are proposed to enhance the training facilities available to Cheadle Hulme Cricket Club to allow for a safe, performance training facility. The cricket nets will be accessed over the existing playing fields and no hard-standing is proposed. The current nets are used by adults and junior cricketers and are open-ended. The new nets would have longer sides and roof and be surrounded on all four sides by netting surrounds. The designers have confirmed that during normal use, the likelihood of a cricket ball exiting the controlled area is virtually impossible, thereby reducing, if not eliminating the danger to the public and neighbours. The new nets would be easier to maintain as they have a defined mowing edge around their perimeter. The new facility would be securable using a gated pedestrian access point to control usage. Therefore, the facility only usable during designated a
    greed operating hours. The facility would typically be in seasonal use from April to September. The current and proposed facility is located at a considerable distance from neighbouring residential properties and there will be no adverse impacts in this regard. The design is compliant with criteria set out by the sport’s governing body, The English Cricket Board (ECB) specification TS6 – Technical Requirements and Performance Specification for non-Turf Cricket Pitches and Guidance.
